Reviewed by Dr Chloë Butler, founder of Skinfolk, October 2026.
The short answer. A first consultation at Skinfolk covers what you want to change, what your skin has had before and your medical history. Only then is a plan agreed, and nothing is treated that has not been talked through with you. At Ombersley you will see Dr Chloë or Dr Eloise for injectables, and at Barnt Green Dr Chloë. If a treatment is not right for you, we will say so and suggest what is.
Booking a first aesthetic appointment can feel like a bigger step than it is. Knowing what happens in the room makes it easier, and it helps you make the most of the time.
It starts with listening
Trust sits at the centre of how Skinfolk works, and every client journey begins with listening. We take time to understand your lifestyle, your goals and what is actually bothering you before any plan is made. The question is not which treatment you have read about, but what you would like to change.
What we ask
- What you want to change, in your own words, and how long it has bothered you
- What your skin has had before, in clinic and at home, including anything that did not suit you
- Your medical history, including medication, and whether you are pregnant or breastfeeding, since several treatments are not offered then
- Your timing, because some treatments leave the skin pink for a few days and are not ones to book the week of an event
What we look at
For injectables, a thorough assessment of your facial anatomy and of how your face moves, since a line that comes from movement needs a different treatment from one that comes from lost volume. For skin concerns, the skin itself, sometimes in side light, which shows texture and scarring that head on light hides. For pigmentation, where the colour sits and what brings it back.
What you leave with
A plan agreed with you: which treatment, how many sessions, in what order and what it will cost. Every price we charge is published, on our treatment pricing page for Ombersley and on the Barnt Green page. Where a course or a combination makes more sense, our treatment packages and memberships set those out.
When we will say no
Sometimes the honest answer is that the treatment you came in for is not the right one. Lines that move answer to anti-wrinkle injections, not filler. Loose skin along the jaw answers to lifting, not volume. A changing mole is for your GP first. Significant loose skin is a surgical question. If a treatment is not right for you we will say so and suggest what is, including a referral where that is the right route.
Who you will see
Skinfolk is family led. It was founded by Dr Chloë, who brings over 20 years of clinical experience and originally trained and practised as a dentist, which gives her a precise understanding of facial anatomy and balance. She works alongside her sister, Dr Eloise. At Ombersley, injectable treatments are performed by Dr Chloë or Dr Eloise, and at Barnt Green by Dr Chloë. More about them is on our about page.
After treatment
Aftercare is talked through in clinic before you leave, and for injectables a review appointment is offered so we can see how the treatment has settled. We would always rather see you again for a review than do too much on the day.
Before you come
It helps to bring a list of any medication, to know what you have had done before and roughly when, and to think about any dates coming up, such as a holiday or an event, that the plan should work around.

Questions we are asked
Do I have to have a consultation before treatment?
Yes. Every treatment at Skinfolk starts with one. We go through what you want to change, what your skin has had before and your medical history, and the plan comes out of that conversation rather than out of a price list.
Will I be treated on the same day?
Nothing is treated on the first visit that has not been talked through with you and agreed. Some treatments need a patch test first, such as Lumecca IPL.
Who will I see?
At Ombersley, injectable treatments are performed by Dr Chloë or her sister Dr Eloise. At Barnt Green, every injectable treatment is performed by Dr Chloë.
What if the treatment I want is not right for me?
We will say so and suggest what is, including a referral where that is the right route.
How do I book?
Skinfolk Ombersley is booked online through Pabau at any time or on 07930 517202. Skinfolk Barnt Green is booked by WhatsApp on 07932 936569.
All treatments are subject to consultation and suitability.
