What it is
Lumecca IPL sends short bursts of intense pulsed light into the skin. The light is taken up by the pigment in a dark spot and by the blood in a broken vessel, and what has been treated is cleared by the skin over the days that follow.
It is the treatment we reach for where the problem is colour in the skin rather than a line or lost volume: discolouration from age, dark and sun spots, redness and thread veins. It is the one treatment on our list that works on all of those at once.

When it is not the answer
- Lines that move with the face, which anti-wrinkle injections address instead
- Texture, enlarged pores and scarring, where microneedling and Morpheus 8 work on the structure of the skin rather than its colour
- Skin that has softened along the jaw and neck, where HIFU works at a depth light does not reach
- Anyone whose patch test shows the treatment is not suitable

What happens on the day
Your consultation covers the marks and the redness you want to change, what your skin has had before and your medical history, and whether Lumecca IPL on its own or inside the Photo-Fabulous Lumecca Lift is the better plan. A patch test is done before your first treatment.
On the day the skin is cleansed and the light is passed over the area being treated with the settings chosen for your skin. Thread veins can be treated in the same appointment at no additional cost.
One treatment will give a visible improvement. In winter we recommend a course of three for stronger and longer lasting results, and the results are even stronger when the treatment is aligned with an Obagi skincare routine, which is one of the ranges we stock.
